Thanks for listening as always; if you enjoyed this cover, please consider giving it a thumbs up or subscribing! After listening to a couple different ONE OK ROCK songs, I found this song to have the most potential, and I got down to work.
When I first heard the song, I found that the chorus could really be interpreted with either a slow or fast tempo. I thought it would be good to start with the slow one and use a bit of silence to jump back to the vibes of the original song, which has such a strong and powerful feeling to it. I think there are two parts of this cover that I particularly like: 1) the arpeggios around 00:30, and 2) the descending left hand runs that happen around 1:05. I think the arpeggios fit well into the arrangement without sacrificing space to cover the original themes/motifs, so I''m quite happy with how those turned out. I think the left hand runs really balance out what the right hand is doing at that time, and kind of masks the small amount of repetition that is going on in the right hand. One part that I think gave me a ton of trouble was the ascending octave arpeggios that happen around 1:10. I definitely needed a ton of time to get that down cleanly, and at times I wanted to just give up and change it to something simpler haha!
On another note, I think there can be better use of the higher register, especially in the latter half of the cover. This could be an opportunity for somebody to explore and make a more seamless cover that transitions better than this one. Overall though, I'm happy with this cover, and I hope you guys enjoyed it!
